Corrosion is a naturally occurring process, by which metals are converted to a chemically more stable product such as an oxide, hydroxide or sulphide. It affects metal water pipework and can cause significant damage and cost to water distribution systems as pipework is destroyed. Corrosion also contributes to increased metal concentrations in water distribution systems.
