Bacteria are single cell microorganisms that can live in a diverse range of environments. In the context of this course we are concerned with water borne bacteria such as Legionella and Pseudomonas, which are able to live and multiply in water distribution systems and can cause severe harm to human beings who come into contact with the water or aerosols.
