Calibration

Calibration is a referencing process that is used to generate comparable results. When testing water parameters, calibrating a measuring instrument refers to adjusting the measurement values of an instrument when measuring a substance of known value. For example, if calibrating a pH meter, the pH probe is exposed to a solution of known pH (such as pH 7.0) and instructed to interpret the measured value as the known value (in this case pH 7.0).
