Dissolved Oxygen

Dissolved oxygen (DO) refers to the amount of oxygen that is dissolved in water, usually from the atmosphere. It is an important water quality parameter as it indicates oxygen available to aquatic life such as fish. Rapidly moving water usually has a higher dissolved oxygen content than stagnant or slow moving water. A low dissolved oxygen content can lead to algal growth and can indicate microbial activity.
