In the context of this course, a homogeneous system refers to a water distribution system whose chemical and physical properties are identical throughout the whole system. This means that it does not matter where in the system a water sample is taken, as any sample will return the same result. This may be achievable under laboratory conditions, but does usually not apply to real world scenarios.
