Certain water distribution systems are legally required to have a Risk Management Plan (RMP) written, which needs to be reviewed on a regular basis. The RMP is a tool to identify, assess and mitigate risks that are associated with the water distribution system. A monitoring plan is usually part of an RMP, as the monitoring plan defines all the details about necessary water sampling and testing to achieve the monitoring objective which is related to the identified risks of the system.
